**3.5 mysterious and peculiar stars**

" I had just come to accept that my life would be ordinary when extraordinary things began to happen.
I got to say that this was one of those books, that just by the cover alone, made me interested to read it. I know we shouldn't judge a book for it's cover but still, this pic have something that draw me in.

Now, I don't consider this book a horror book, but it sure is creepy and a bit unsettling. But at the same time magical and full of wonders, a new kind of neverland, where everything is possible and every single person there is far from ordinary, it's indeed peculiar.

Jacob grew up listening to his grandfather stories, stories of an island, where it was a school for peculiar students, a home for misfits, a place to belong. Jacob's grandad showed him pics, the girl who levitated, the invisible boy, the girl with flames in her hands, and while Jacob was a child, he believed him. He believe that such place existed until the day he grow up and found how could he ever believed in such fantasies.

But after a family tragedy and the fact he witness something he couldn't explain, he is set on a quest, to find Miss Peregrine and try to understand his grandad's last words.
He finds an abandoned orphanage, destroyed by time but that is the key for all his questions, for not everything is what it seems and he soon finds out he is part of something extraordinary.

Now, I tried to not give much of the story away, because it is one of the best parts, to alongside Jacob, unravel the story and all it's mysteries. But the thing, that actually blew my mind, was all the pics, all those real vintage pics, in which the author based this story and characters. Amazing and sometimes disturbing pictures! Maybe that's why many people thought it was a horror story, the pictures are kind of haunting and creepy.

But overall, the story have more paranormal tones to it,people with special powers and the monsters (hollowgasts) chasing and killing them.
It really is an interesting story and kind of an unique one but still I was expecting a bit more. I don't know, sometimes I feel if it weren't for the photos, the story wouldn't have any impact at all.

  1. I've read it a few weeks ago and the main reason I wanted to read it so bad was the amazing cover! And of course the fact that in the middle there's all those vintage creepy photos that made all the story a lot better! Though the story wasn't that good i was expecting i gave it around 3.5 stars too :)
