Release Day Launch + Giveaway || White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

“I don’t think of Zayne that way!”
She laughed. “What man-parts-loving female in this world doesn’t think of Zayne that
way? I can barely keep myself breathing when I see him. All the guys in school have squishy
waists. I can tell Zayne doesn’t. He’s the awesome sauce with extra sauce.”
That he was and he so didn’t have a squishy waist, but I tuned Stacey out at that point. I
really did need to cram for this test and I also didn’t want my fantasies involving Zayne to
occupy my mind right now. Especially after I’d woken up this morning, carefully tucked under
the covers. The bed had smelled like him: sandalwood and crisp linen.
“Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger,” Stacey murmured.
I clenched my jaw, cupping my hands over my ears.
She jabbed me in the side with her elbow. At this rate I’d be covered in bruises before
lunchtime. “Our bio class just got a billion times more interesting. And hotter, lots and lots
hotter. Holy mother, I want to have his babies. Not now of course, but definitely later. But I’d
like to start practicing soon.”
The cell wall is a thick and rigid layer covering the plasma something, something plant
Stacey stiffened all of a sudden. “Oh my God, he’s coming—”
              Composed of fat and sugar—
Something slender and shiny fell from who knew where, landing in the middle of Sam’s
notes. Blinking tightly, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize the faded and half peeled
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker covering the back of the silver cell phone.
My heart slammed against my ribs. Gripping the edges of the notebook, I slowly lifted
my gaze. Unnaturally beautiful golden eyes met mine.
“You forgot this last night.”

The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence #1)

The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence, #1)

Rating : 4.5 stars
Read: 2013
Format Read: Kindle Edition

They're more alike then anyone would think although they seemed millions ages from each other.
Kayden is popular, quarterback of the football team, handsome and belongs what it seems a perfect family.
Callie is the outcast, she is bullied (by Kayden girlfriend), wears baggy clothes and chops her own hair, and tries her best to be invisible.
They've been together in many classes for years but he never noticed her until the night she saved him, and everything changed.
Both of them are broken, both of them were victims of despicable acts and they both are afraid to let someone in.

"I can handle scars, especially ones that are on the outside." I understand his meaning from the depths of my heart

Gosh,my heart was on my sleeve.. i smiled, i laughed, i cried, i suppressed the urge to punch someone(or my pillow) and many times i just wanted to hug Callie and Kayden.
The secondary characters (yep, i'm talking about Luke and Seth) are great and give even more depth to the story and of course some fun moments.
I must warn that it does end with a mighty CLIFFHANGER. Yep, one of those insane's cliffhangers that you think "Nope, it can't end like this".
Still, if you're looking for an emotional read, this one will do.

The Book Thief

The Book Thief

Rating: 5+++ stars
Read: February 6th to 11th
Format Read: Kindle Edition

*** 5+++ "heartbreaking and unforgettable"kind of stars ***

“I have hated words and I have loved them,
and I hope I have made them right.”

“He was the crazy one who had painted himself black
and defeated the world.
She was the book thief without the words.
Trust me, though, the words were on their way,
and when they arrived,
Liesel would hold them in her hands like the clouds,
and she would wring them out like rain.”

Germany, 1939 ...our narrator is Death itself and he is telling us the story of a young girl, named Liesel.
From the moment she stole a book to the moment she lost another.

It's a story about words. The power of words.
How they can lift or break someone spirit. How they can manipulate an entire nation, leading to destruction and misery. But also how they can bring solace and hope.

It's a story about common folk trying to survive in nazi german. How small acts of kindness could be punished so severely and how good men wanted to do the right thing but were constantly afraid of repercussions and feeling guilty because they couldn't do more.

It's a story of a young girl learning to read and finding solace in words. Even if she have to steal them or lets say save a book at a time.
A girl that when she read out load, people would listen to her and find solace in her words. A girl that to make you smile brings a snowman to you.

It's the story of a young boy with hair with the color of lemons, that first was a thief and then a bread giver.A boy that idealized someone people said he shouldn't, because to him a thing like skin color didn't change no one value. A boy that only asks for a kiss.

It's the story of a jew, trying to survive in a world set to destroy him. A fighter that fights for every breath.Living in darkness, he finds the hope in words and in a kindred spirit.

And it's also the story of how humankind is able to do the most beautiful things but also the most horrifying things.

(I'll try not to be a spoiler like Death)

You are going to die.”

Death is our narrator and I never thought to say it, but he is quite funny and amusing. But above all a great storyteller in human nature.

Our book thief and quite a fascinating character. It's her story but also the story of the people in her life, the people she loved.
From her determination to learn how to read to how she loved the words, craving for more. In a time where books were burned there was a girl setting on keeping them. They were her most prized possession.

I don't think it's possible not to love Rudy, the boy hair the color of lemons, the Jesse Owen, the bread giver...
This boy made me laugh and cry like crazy. One of the sweetest characters ever.

“How about a kiss, Saumensch?"

A man with a heart of gold. A musician that could lift everyone up with his songs. A man that kept his promises even when the prize to take was to high.

A harsh woman but with a soft heart. She loves and cares deeply even when she doesn't show it all the time. The scene of her at night with an accordion it's hauntingly beautiful.

Our fighter. A man fighting for his life just because he is jewish. A man surviving with help of others and feeling guilty for doing it. A man that also finds hope in words. The young man with hair like feathers.

Max lifted his head, with great sorrow and great astonishment.
"There were stars," he said. "They burned by eyes.”

This BOOK! This freakin BOOK!

I've been wanting to read this one for months now and I was constantly postpone it because I had really high expectations for it and well, I was afraid of being disappointed.
That didn't happened has you can see and it was one of the few books that gave me a monumental bookhangover. When I finished, I just laid in my bed thinking about it for a long time and getting extremely emotional about it. Oh yes, I was a mess (sobbing and all that).
It's hard to convey in a review all my feelings for this book because I don't want to spoil anything but one thing I can say for sure, this one is truly one of a kind book.

And let's just say that even now writing all this down, I feel overwhelmed about it all.

But like Death said...

“I have to say that although it broke my heart, I was, and still am, glad I was there.”

Sometimes it's more subtle.

Dead Sexy Dragon (Dragon Heat #1)

Dead Sexy Dragon (Dragon Heat, #1)

Rating: 2.5 stars
Read: 2013
Format Read: Kindle Edition (ARC)

I love reading PNR and I read several shifter stories but never one with a dragon shifter!
A dragon! Now how cool is that?

Stig is how dragon shifter and he is entering a mating phase. Cue to Cora, his dead friend younger sister, is asking for his help and shelter. And well, they have been secretly attracted and harboring feeling for each others all this years.

The 2 of them in an isolated house?
Are you seeing where this is going? ;)

Anyway the story ends up to be more than romance, we get to know a bit about the dragon shifters and the feud between their Brotherhood and The Knights of St. George.
Still, although this was a short story and it didn't have time for that much character development, it was a fun and interesting read.
