Thief (Love Me With Lies #3)

Thief (Love Me With Lies, #3)

Rating : 5+ stars
Read: July 24 to 26,2013
Format Read : Kindle Edition

If in The Opportunist we had Olivia's POV and in Dirty Red Leah's POV, now it's time for Caleb to give us a glimpse of his mind, heart and soul.
And what an emotional roller coaster ride it is!

Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn't boast or brag.
There's no arrogance in love;
it's never rude, crude, or indecent-it's not self absorbed.
Love isn't easily upset.
Love doesn't tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I'll fight for her.

In this one, besides getting the events after Leah's revelation by the end of Dirty Red, we get flashbacks in many key scenes from the previous books but in his perspective and finally giving the answers to all the questions left answered.

But one thing prevails among everything in this story...the love Olivia and Caleb feel for each other. It's deep, true and all consuming. And no matter how long they stay apart or the web of lies that keeps hurting them, they end up drawn to each other. Again and again.

Because bottom line...

But how Caleb can show Olivia that they can truly work? That he is worth the fight? That they're meant to be together?

She has the kind of love that can stain your soul,
make you beg not to have one, just to escape the spell she's put you under.
I've tried to break myself of her over and over, but it's pointless.
I've got more of her in my veins than blood.

And that's the thing about them, no matter all the side characters, for me they eclipse everything else. They're truly imperfectly perfect...
They're flawed characters, they make terrible mistakes, they can be rash or even immature but through the story, you can see that in their core ,they are good people. And that they grow or try to learn from their mistakes.
It really does says a lot about an author that makes you care deeply for her characters even when sometimes, you want to hit some sense in them.

Lies, it sounds demented to want a woman's lies.
But, Olivia loves you with her lies.
She lies about how she's feeling, how she's hurting,
how she wants you when she tells you she doesn't.
She lies to protect you and herself.

And despite the lies, we realize that Caleb is the only one that truly know Olivia, and she is the one that truly knows him.
The story still have lots of twists and turns, that I'm controlling myself not to spoil anyone. Let's just say that many scenes left me infuriated and other heartbroken...
And Leah?

I thought You couldn't get worse and I couldn't hate you more...I was mistaken!

Anyway, this book was one of the my most anticipated books of this year and I had really high expectation of it! And Thief exceeded them all!
In some ways, I always dread to write reviews for books I truly love ,books that one way or another have become a part of me. Stories that touch me beyond believe, stories that I think about days and days after I read them, stories that I know will stay with me forever. How can I ever make the book/series justice?
I do try the best I can :D

I know leave you all with parts of the lyrics of one of my favorite songs and that kept popping to my mind while reading this book...

♪♪My whole life waiting for the right time
To tell you how I feel.
Know I try to tell you that I need you.
Here I am without you.
I feel so lost but what can I do?
'Cause I know this love seems real
But I don't know how to feel.♪♪

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!

I devoured this book, just couldn't stop reading it! The world building, the characters, the story line is just amazing. It's dark, gritty, emotional, ruthless...a world that'll suck you in right in the first pages.

Just fantastic! What a kick ass heroine, gosh!

She is loyal, fierce, funny and just awesome.
In a world that seems to be just "Each one for themselves" she is constantly trying to do the right thing. And she will do anything to bring her sister back.
She have so much on her shoulders and to know she thinks she is the one responsible for her sister fate, is just heartbreaking.

And her relationship with my favorite wingless angel,Raffe?

The bantering and the teasing is just...

You don't believe me?

“Are you really an archangel?” I whisper.
He gives me a cocky grin. “Impressed?”
“No,” I lie. “But I have some complaints I’d like to file about your personnel.”
“Talk to middle management.”
I follow him out the door, giving him my
death-by-glare expression.”

Alongside with Penryn, he is one of my favorite characters ever and most definitely one of my favorite duo.

He is just fascinating!!! And we meet him, he is surrounded by other angels and fighting fiercely against them...and they manage to cut his wings. How Penryn describes the devastation when he sees his wings on the ground is just heartbreaking.
It's inevitable to compare him to the other angels and right at first, we can see he is on a league of his own. And above all we see that his sense of right and wrong is nowhere near the other ones.
It's inevitable to love him, to laugh at his corny sense of humor and the way they tease and banter each other...

“I never kid about my warrior demigod status."
"Oh. My. God." I lower my voice, having forgotten to whisper.

"You are nothing but a bird with an attitude. Okay, so you have a few muscles, I’ll grant you that. But you know, a bird is nothing but a barely evolved lizard. That’s what you are.”
He chuckles."Evolution." He leans over as if telling me a secret."I'll have you know that I've been this perfect since the beginning of time."
“Oh, please. Your giant head is getting too big for this forest. Pretty soon, you're going to get stuck trying to walk between two tress. And then, I'll have to rescue you."
I give him a weary look. "Again.”

In a story where the Angels are the villains, the destroyers, Raffe is our kick ass hero, our warrior that will do what's right. And alongside Penryn, you will root for this 2 to triumph and survive in this new and harsh world.

Well by now, you must certain have gathered how much I loved this book!

It's an enthralling story and one that have so many of my favorite elements/genres in it, from dystopia to paranormal.
And besides a great world building, the characters are complex and it's amazing to follow their journey.

Now, I won't spoil anything,I'll just say that the ending is one HELL of CLIFFHANGER! That scene was excruciating!!!

Entwine by Rebecca Berto || Book Blitz

Entwine by Rebecca Berto
Publication date: November 25th 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Sarah Langham’s life was the epitome of normal until her dad slept with another woman when she was sixteen. It ripped her family apart.
Twenty-two-year-old Sarah has it together, though.

Waiting at the train station to go home from her first day of her first proper job out of university, she spots a man.

He is an enigma to her. She’s drawn to him, with his square jaw; buzz of hair; and his tall, solid frame, seen under the contours of his business suit. And he’s been looking at her, too. Fate pulls them together that night on a whirlwind date, exceeding anything Sarah’s experienced before. He’s even more into her than she’s into him. Finally, she wants to trust a guy for the first time since she was sixteen.
But then they discover something.

Something that meant they were never two strangers at a train station.

And it threatens to tear their future apart before it, really, ever begins.

The smell of the man next to her, panting and sweating from obviously running to catch the train, didn’t matter. Nor did the fact she was standing for a one-hour train trip in heels. There was little that could matter to her right now—except for when the train suddenly stopped, and the driver announced a delay.
“We have stopped to attend to an ill passenger on board,” he said. “I don’t know how long the wait will be, but it could be up to forty-five minutes due to peak hour traffic and the patient’s condition. Thank you for your understanding.”
At that time, Sarah heard a deep, yet smooth voice say, “Lucky I don’t plan on being anywhere.”
She knew it was Him before she looked up to meet his eyes. Apart from the fact she was sure it came from somewhere in front of her, or thereabouts, a voice in her head associated it with the man she’d almost profiled to full detail.
Looking up, she saw his face and, for some reason, knowing what his voice sounded like was like tying up a little bow on top of her perfect package.
“It’s not like I have to be anywhere,” Sarah agreed.
For a moment, she matched his gaze, trying to stop from doing anything suggestive. She wanted to lick her lips as they were dry, and she was sure even a little grin would crack them. Only an hour ago she’d had gloss on them from her special first day at work, but now they felt dry and baron.
Oh, how with every moment she stood here, it got worse. Now her head was itchy. If only she could sneak up a fingernail to scratch. Just above and behind her ear. Just a bit. But Sarah couldn’t. Why was a stranger doing this to her?
Sarah held her place, gazing with as much power as he had. She wouldn’t lick her lips. Or scratch her head. And now she was a dry, twitching freak.
Stuff it.
She turned a little, trying to hide her hand, and covered it by fussing with her hair near her ear, and licked away the cracked feeling from her lips. When she looked up, the man was shamelessly staring. She knew that look. There was no mistaking that, for some reason, he was as intrigued by her as she was him.
“Here,” the man said. He bent and dropped against the railing behind his back, his knees sticking out at the sides, and his huge legs separated in a way that made Sarah want to look away but couldn’t. “Sit here. Your feet must be sore.”
That made Sarah self-conscious, made her unable to move. Had he seen her shoes? Or looked up and down the length of her? The idea thrilled her.

A Really Awesome Mess

A Really Awesome Mess

Rating: 2 stars
Read: May 30 to 31,2013
Format Read:Kindle Edition (ARC)

"Yeah, that's totally badass. Not killing yourself even when you think you want to.
Takes a lot more balls to stay alive, don't you think?"
We all smiled because it was the truth: Living did take a lot more guts than giving up.
In this book we follow the story of two troubled teenagers, Justin and Emily and their journey tin Heartland Academy.
Being Heartland Academy a reform school, our first thought it's what brought them there.

Justin took a handful of Tylenol, while Emily is accused of cyber bullying. They both feel disconnected with their family.
Are this reasons why they're there or something more deeper is behind it?
Can they deal with their issues and heal, and connect with the other teens?

I had several problems with this book.
I really liked the premises of the story and I did enjoyed several moments of it.
It had a slow start and I was having problems connecting with the characters but at some point, I started enjoy a lot the whole dynamic of the group. Discovering each reason for they all being there, how did they interact with each other.

And when they started bonding? It felt real and quite emotional.

But then it went downhill again...I couldn't get the whole pig thing! It was just too much!
And well, seriously, if the smell was that BAD, no one else would notice it?

So yeah, this didn't worked out for me.

Dirty Red (Love Me With Lies #2)

Rating : 4 stars
Read: December 29 to 31,2012
Format Read : Kindle Edition

"I have done a number of things to keep this man.
I have lied and cheated.
I have been sexy and meek, fierce and vulnerable.
I have been everything but myself."

After I read The Opportunist (the first book in the series), I was left emotional drained and just couldn't stop thinking about it.

Oh Yes, it's one of those books that should come with the warning "Book Hangover ahead...proceed with caution".

A story of flawed people. A story how our choices, to the small to the bigger ones, defines who we are.
The story about Olivia and Caleb...and of course of Leah and how she does anything to win Caleb.

It was an incredible BOLD of the author, to write the 2nd book in the villain's POV.

I must confess, that I was reluctant to start it just because of that. I loaded her!
She is such a b*tch!!!

Anyway, the book starts when Leah gives birth to Estella and i'm caught by surprise, i imagined her over the moon, for getting the guy of her dreams and a child. But no, she is jealous, because its a baby girl, another woman to stole the attention of her husband.

 Now how twisted is that?

The story also alternates between the past and the present, and we learn how she met Caleb, her relationship with her family and of course, the things she did to "catch him".
Many of the scenes, i just couldn't believe how shallow she was, or even worse, how she pretended to be. She was never completely herself around Caleb, afraid if he saw her how she truly was, he wouldn't stay. But how kind of life is that?

I actually only liked Leah when she was with Sam (the manny), because their banter was hilarious, and he wasn't afraid to tell her the true, even if it was to call her a cold bitch :D

The next book, it's on Caleb's POV , which will give so much insight in the gut wrenching and raw story!
Is he the manipulative one, like Leah claims?

The Angst level in this series is CRAZY and i love it! Call me a masochist reader, I don't care, ahaha.
Did this book changed my opinion of Leah? Not really, she is still a b*tch BUT a more human one, if that's make sense.  Bottom line, she is just such a selfish person that doesn't care about the consequences.

If you haven't read this series, just jump aboard the crazy wagon and enjoy one amazing ride....

All Our Pretty Songs (All Our Pretty Songs #1)

All Our Pretty Songs

Rating : 1 "Did not finish" kind of stars
Format Read : Kindle Edition (ARC)

It's still rare when I don't finish a book, I always think that it can get better or I'm simply not in the mood for it BUT...sometimes I just can't see that it won't get better for me :||

** DNF **

I got to admit that at first I though the prose of the book was just poetic and lovely! An don't let me start on the cover, I was instantly drawn by it! *so pretty*

I ended up building high expectations of it, the story and the prose sounded unique. BUT the longer I kept reading, the less I kept interested in it.
For me it was just one of those cases that a sneak peek would leave me contempt but a full length novel, was excruciating!!

Sadly, it was just not the book for me!

Come Alive (Experiment in Terror #7)

Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7)

Rating : 5 "I love this series so much" kind of stars
Read: June 23 to 24, 2013
Format Read : Kindle Edition

**spoiler alert**

To say I was excited to read this book, doesn't even cover it!
And my expectations for this one?
Really HIGH but Oh BOY, Karina Halle NEVER disappoints, she surpasses herself in each book!

And a whole novel, in Dex's POV?

It really was...

Image Hosted by

By now, you know I'm crazy about Dex.
And each opportunity to get in his head (in not a psycho way),was like Christmas morning + me in a bookstore, lol. Are you getting the excitement?aha

So Come Alive picks u right after Into the Hollow and we get how new and at sometimes awkward Perry and Dex relationship is.
But Dex is set, on making Perry realize, how right they are for each other, how they're meant for each other.
And of course there is wooing and there is lot's of passionate moments between this 2.

" I just thought I should warn you that the second we walk in to the apartment, I am going to maul the fuck out of you. I don't care if you're tired or bruised or scratched. You'll just be more so when I'm finished."

Image Hosted by

Let's just say that chapter 4 will be forever a favorite *fanning myself

Anyway, Jimmy gives them a last chance for Experiment in Terror but Max must be on their team, and be in charge for it.
Yep, you read it right, Max aka douchecanoe is back!
And this time they're headed to investigate a haunted house,in New Orleans, a city full of ancient magic and traditions.

Image Hosted by

They'll be caught on in some black magic, putting everything on the line, their love and their lives!

Image Hosted by

By now you get it how much i LOVE this book!
Seriously, Dex is hilarious! I lost count the times that I was laughing or just grinning like a fool. Only he can say those things and get away with it!

Image Hosted by

And at the same time the depth of this story, the depth of the love this 2 feel for each other. It's the kind of love, we all dream to find one day (minus the ghosts and demons, aha).

And Perry?
Still and forever our kick ass heroine.
When she put a certain b*tch in her place?
I just thought "YOU GO GIRL!!!"
We get that she feels insecure regarding Dex but slowly she is becoming more assertive and certain.
[ And when she saves him? Just AWESOME!! ]

About the story...

This one was so damn SCARY!!!
By far the SCARIEST!It's even was more scary than the freakin ISLAND OF DEATH!!!
I was freaking out big time, let me tell you that.

[ You guys the BLOODY PITON!!! First on the toilet than on the coffin!!! And he was buried ALIVE! *shudders
Then all the "zombies"!!! ]

And don't let me start on a particular part, around 60%, where my heart was broken!
Anyway, I want say much more, I don't want to spoil anyone.
Now if you haven't read this series, WHY THE HELL NOT?

RUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN, go grab a copy :D

Oh and neither to say I'll be eager and counting the days for the next one!
