*breathes deeply
So, have you wondered what happened to Dex in the time between Lying Season and his appearance on On demon Wings

We did get some glimpses of it but now we have the whole thing...and it's AMAZING. Well, it's Dex, so not a surprise in that, right?

His story is full of heartbreak, pain ,angst and anger ...

"I was afraid. I was afraid to take a chance with Perry for a million different reasons.
I was afraid to get hurt.
I was afraid to lose my heart, my soul, my everything, for a woman who might not have wanted me back. For someone I needed more than anything. "

" I love her, more than anyone should love anything.
The kind of love that either fills you up or eats away at you.
I love her at my own risk. I love her...dangerously."

"Perry was my light. I didn't know it at the time, but I know it now.
And in her light, I lost that madness. It only came back when she left"

And we get his journey to became a better man...a man that gives everything and doesn't ask anything in return. The man he always was but was afraid to reveal. A man that is trying to learn from his mistakes and get a second chance.

Like Dean, each time we get a glimpse of Dex's mind, it feels we're cracking the Foray code... and each time, we get to love him even more.

Oh and Dex 2.0?

For me I couldn't stop reading, and took me more less than a week to read them all.
And i LOVED every second of it!

Elite (Eagle Elite #1)

Elite (Eagle Elite, #1)

Rating: 2 stars
Read: July 12 to 13,2013
Format Read: Kindle Edition

Ok, where do I start?

This book turned out not I was expecting at all and not in a good way!
I do love when an author tries to think outside the box and gives us a fresh take in what could have been the same old formula.

So Trace won a scholarship for the most exclusive college in the world, the college where the kids from the most influential and powerful people in the world go to aka Eagle Elite College.
So to Trace, a farm girl, to win the scholarship, it was like to win the lottery...

Only to discovered a new world, where the Elects rule the all school and you must follow their biding or suffer the consequences...

Now what did bother me in this story?
Many things actually!

First one, almost half all the book I had this deja vu feeling...there were LOADS of similarities between this story and Korean drama I watches years ago, Boys Before Flowers, that was based on the japanese manga Hana Yori Dango.

I felt that Elite was like an american version of it, the 4 gorgeous and handsome Elect that rule the college, rang a bell form my old friends F4.

The wining a scholarship, the bullying, to the leader falling in love with the poor girl...and of course rescuing her from all the other students trowing her eggs and so on.

Then why, if i did enjoyed the drama I didn't liked it in this story?
Well, basically because regarding a drama (especially one based in a manga) we have to expect some over the top scenes or story lines or even ridiculous ones. To read it in a new adult story, not so much!

What did bother me, was that this was a college setting, ages 18 to over...and it appeared like some High School for me. And still wearing uniforms, really?

Now, he are introduce to a whole Mafia story line.
Nixon is the ultimate Boss and also the leader of the Elect. So basically he runs the school...Am I to believe that someone that have to run all the business in the familia is wasting time at college to rule the school? I do get it was in his plan to undercover some truths but still...

I didn't connected with the characters and I didn't felt most of the romance. Plus the whole revelation I loved you since I was 9 years old, not realistic :( Close friends or someone you would always trust? Sure! But the love of your life,hmmmmm....

The more I think about this story, the more frustrated I get...There were some scenes that I enjoyed but when I expected to get better it didn't.
To sum it up, in my opinion, this story was just all over the place...and it was just infuriating that nearly by the end of the story, trowing a love triangle like that, REALLY? REALLY?

Anyway, this was just not the book for me :(

The Summer Garden (The Bronze Horseman #3)

The Summer Garden (The Bronze Horseman, #3)

Rating : 5++++ stars
Read : October 14 to 24, 2013
Format Read : Kindle Edition

I'm still at a loss of words to describe this series, to describe Tatiana and Alexander! I said it before but I'll say it again, there are love story and then there is Tania and Shura's story!
Each and single book of this series moved me, enthralled me and made me live every single thing with them...and each book is so different in it's own way, each one is unique!

Summer Garden starts where most of the romance novels starts after the Tatia's and Shura reunion. They're now starting their life together with their little boy Ant. The possibilities seems endless now...they're free to live their life the way they want.
But the thing is they're not really free, they're away from Russia, from Germany but they aren't free of the horrors they suffered...especially Alexander, he have scars on the inside and on the outside that don't let him ever forget.

"Does it hurt when I touch them?"
He has to lie.
Every kiss she plants on his wounds stirs a sense memory of how he got them.
He wanted her to touch him, and this is what he gets.
But if he tells her the truth, she will stop.So he lies.
 No,he says.

It's hard to meet this "new" Shura, this damaged Shura. He suffers from severe PTSD but he can't talk about it. He tries to move on the best he can, without soiling his wife and son.

Then.Now. Eventually, he sees so much that he becomes dead to everything.
He has inured himself, hardened himself so that there's nothing that arouses a flicker of feeling inside Alexander.

The other side is Tania, trying to figure it out how to reach to take his demons and shadows away. She did the unthinkable and saved from the Gulac but is he really out from there?

So through this first years, they're traveling state to state, trying to find a home for themselves...but still hiding for each other all of what they're feeling.

We will be with them through all the hardships, struggles and victories. Sad, heartbreaking and emotional moments...

“Alexander, you broke my heart.
But for carrying me on your back, for pulling my dying sled, for giving me your last bread, for the body you destroyed for me, for the son you have given me, for the twenty-nine days we lived like Red Birds of Paradise, for all our Naples sands and Napa wines, for all the days you have been my first and last breath, for Orbeli-
I will forgive you. ”

...but also passionate and loving moments.

“I love you. I'm blind for you, wild for you.
Sick with you.
I told you that our first night together when I asked you to marry me, I am telling you now.
Everything that's happened to us, everything, is because I crossed the street for you.
I worship you.
You know that through and through.
The way I hold you, the way I touch you, my hands on you,
God, me inside you, all the things I can't say during the daylight,
Tatiana, Tania, Tatiasha, babe, do you feel me?”

Like I said, this for me the harder book to read of the 3 of them (and that's saying a lot)but I can't separate the books from each other. Reading this series for the first time (I'm sure I'll re-read them several times), was an experience of it's own. It was like reading their memories...not only the memories of several events that change history but the memories of people who lived them. To me they felt real and this story touched my soul. I can't even explain it properly! It's like they're now part of me, if that's make sense.

Now, I read several reviews that didn't liked this book...that Shura and Tania are barely recognizable and so on. And I agree with several of the points made, there were several times that I felt infuriated, sad, disappointed and even disgusted with some scenes...but i never felt that the "pain" was gratuitous. It was real, it was two young people that lived unbearable and impossible things, trying the best they could to get through it together. To grow together. They make mistakes. They have flaws. They're real.

Many parts seems the negativity prevails in it but it's because a major part of the book is focused in those earlier years. Like it zoomed in the pivotal moments...but also the happy moments, Antman growing up and his brothers and sister.

And in the end it's all worthy...every bump in the road made them stronger. And this kind of one of a lifetime love it's all we can aim for. When two souls recognize each other, and from that moment on, they know their fate is irrevocably changed.

“Do you see the Field of Mars, where I walked next to my bride in her white wedding dress, with red sandals in her hands, when we were kids?”

“I see it well.”

“We spent all our days afraid it was too good to be true, Tatiana,” said Alexander. “We were always afraid all we had was a borrowed five minutes from now.”

Her hands went on his face. “That’s all any of us ever has, my love,” she said. “And it all flies by.”

“Yes,” he said, looking at her, at the desert, covered coral and yellow with golden eye and globe mallow. “But what a five minutes it’s been.”

True, and reading it" what five minutes it's been"...:)

Staking the Shelves # 3

Stacking The Shelves was originally created by Tynga's reviews. The idea is for everyone to show the books they are adding to their shelves (physical copies or virtual).

I'm constantly forgetting to share with you guys, all my new books....but just for giving an example, every time I post the "Freebies Alert", those ebooks are getting on my kindle. Oh yes, I'm a kindle hoarder, aha.

Anyway, so here I am to share the new paperback i got in the last couple of weeks!! And I'm so excited to read them!

I never read a Kristen Ashley book, so when I saw she had a "biker romance" I just had to buy it! I only read raving reviews of her books and my friends over Goodreads keep saying she is a "must read author".

After reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, I was certain it wouldn't be the last book I read from her. I'm anxious to dive in another mind blowing and suspenseful story!!

Now,here comes another beauty *inserts fangirling

I can't say how much I heard about this book!
And after reading my precious "The Bronze Horseman" series, I'm ready to try this one!
I do love highlanders stories!

The final one is Angelfall by Susan Ee. *sigh* Angels + apocalypse? I'm in!

What's new in your shelve?

Summer moved back to her hometown, to help her father after her parents divorce. Their split broke down her foundations, if the most happy and stable couple she knew, could out of the blue, split like that, how is love real?

So she goes away from the path that was aligned for her and goes back to her beginning.
Among all the familiar and loving faces she sees Ford, and the attraction is immediate. On both sides.
Ford is a happy guy, he always follows his dreams and he is focused to not repeat his father mistake and settle down before he achieves them.He wants to live without regret and "what if's".

Now both of them, while knowing each other will learn a lot about themselves and how unpredictable life is. And that are risks worth taking to achieve our dreams...

"No matter what happens after this, you've changed me, Summer. I love you for that and for the fact that not once have you asked for that change. What we have, what we are, is beautiful. Don't ruin it by worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. This moment right here is ours. Let's take our moments."

Both MC's are extremely likable, down to earth, funny and just sizzling together.
At first, I was a bit confused about the "drama" between Summer and her mom, how she took so deeply the divorce. But the thing i loved, was how she went gradually more attuned with her emotions and could get passed them.
I loved Ford and his take on life and especially, how much the two of them learned from each other!

And the chemistry?

I approve!haha

Besides the 2 of them, my other favorite character is Casey...he his hilarious and just awesome!

I really liked it! It was refreshing and not a drama fest. If you're looking for a light, fun and at the same time emotional read, this one will do for you!

Release Day || Book Blitz + Giveaway || A Risk Worth Taking by Heather Hildenbrand

When 22-year-old Summer Stafford’s parents split halfway through her senior year at college, Summer’s world is rocked. Everything she thought she knew—heck, everything she thought she wanted for her own life—feels like a lie. The truth is love is a risk. And the true kind, the kind that lasts, might even be a fairy tale.

Reeling from the divorce, Summer derails her own future by breaking up with her parent-approved boyfriend and giving up her lifelong plans for a big-city career. She moves back home, business degree in hand. Dad needs her to fill the gaps her mother left behind; Summer needs to find who she is outside of the cookie-cutter life that failed so miserably for her parents.

Ford O’Neal’s future involves one person: himself. He doesn’t have a permanent address and he definitely doesn’t commit. To a place or a person. Raised by hippies, he plans just far enough ahead to secure his next stop, this one landing him at a work-study program at Heritage Plantation where he can grow his own herbal and medicinal creations.

Summer is gorgeous and smart and fun to be with, the perfect way to pass five months. It won’t be love—Ford’s got too many things to accomplish, too many places to go, before he settles down. Yet Summer pulls him in, challenging him to rethink his own philosophy.

When Ford’s five months are up, each of them must decide if love is really worth the risk

This book will be my next read, so I'll be posting a review for it on Saturday! :)
