The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2)

Rating : 5 stars
Read : June 24 to 27, 2013
Format Read : Kindle Edition

Image Hosted by

After being kicked out from Eden, Allie left Zeke and the rest of the band in the city and went looking for her creator, Kanin.

In her new and dark world, there still is a rule that is undeniable, blood calls blood.

Allie is plagued by nightmares that are what Kanin is experiencing, all the pain and agonizing HUNGER he is feeling. She only hopes she will get to him in time.

Arriving to the ruins of a city, drawn there, she realizes that the lead she followed wasn't Kanin but Jackal, her vampire brother, the raider king, that killed many of her friends.

Now with a new ally, she will have to go back to the place where it all started and to face an old and psychotic enemy that is set on releasing a new virus...

What to say about her?
She have become one of my favorite characters ever, she is truly such a kick ass and strong heroine!!

Image Hosted by

“For the rest of my existence, if I lived to see the end of this world, there would never be another Ezekiel Crosse. There would never be another soul as bright as his. And that both terrified me and made me savagely - and maybe selfishly - determined to keep him. Zeke was mine now. Forever”

And well, Allie is even more bad ass in this one than in the previous book, we clearly see how the character grown and how she is still set on her beliefs and coping with her own darkness.

In this story is shown that not all the monsters are the obvious ones and how humans can do even more terrible things. Allie is more human, selfless than other characters we came across!

***Kanin ***

"It's me. Damn you, Kanin. You were a pain in the ass to find, you know that?"

Kanin didn't answer.
Without warning, his hands rose, pressing to either side of my face as I went rigid. His stare was awes, hopeful,
as if he couldn't quite believe I was real and had to touch me to make sure I wasn't a phantom."You're here.".

Image Hosted by

Seriously, I lost count in how many scenes with Kanin I felt all teary or just highly emotional.

And in many parts I caught myself, wanting that something between him and Allie would occur.

And I do love Zeke too, so I'm feeling confuse.

Still, he is just one of the most fascinating characters in this series.

“Only death will take me away from you, vampire girl," he whispered. "And even then, I'll watch over you from wherever I end up.”

Image Hosted by

Another character that only gets better and better! Our favorite preacher boy, it's getting more and more bad ass (imagine him with a crossbow).

And indeed he was one of the character that in a direct and also indirect way, surprised me a LOT.

"You sure you want to do this, bloodbag?" he asked, smirking."Go up past the wall, where all the scary vampires

live? Maybe you want to pour some honey or barbecue sauce over yourself before we leave, too."

Oh and this one (my favorite):

“Oh, don't mind me," came an extremely sarcastic voice near the wall.

“You two go ahead and make out–I'll just sit here and bleed quietly.”
Image Hosted by

Yep, Jackal is HILARIOUS!!

At first I didn't want to like him. Well, I didn't forget how psychotic he was, or more, treating all humans like bloodbags. But he truly is one of those characters that grew in you. All the sarcasm and the interaction/bantering with Allie, made me like him a lot.
He will make you laugh a lot and some times just strangle him a little! Just a little!

***Stick ***

He is a bastard.

Image Hosted by

That is all.

***Sarren ***

He got even more psychotic and sadistic, and I truly thought that wasn't possible.
He proved me wrong...

I loved the 1st book but I LOVE this one even more!!!!
Many times, in series, the 2nd book is the weaker because it feels such a in between books, like not many things are going on. I can assure you that doesn't happen in this story!
It's just MORE
More action and thriller paces scenes, more twists and turns, more of this dark and gritty world, more emotions and so much more at stake.

And how about the ending, are you asking?
It ends with a HUGE CLIFFHANGER!!!

Image Hosted by

Yep, it made me scream to my kindle and my feelings all over the place.

It was TORTURE!!

Blood of Eden is most definitely a MUST READ series and truly a turn-pager.
It's just FANTASTIC!

Falling Into You (Falling #1)

Image Hosted by

Rating : 4 stars
Read : March 19th to 20th 2013
Format read : Kindle Edition

Synopsis (from Goodreads): I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.

Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.
Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

“All my life it seems

I've been falling,
Barely keeping my head above water.

Image Hosted by

And then one day I saw you
Standing beneath a spreading tree,
Refusing to weep.
But even then I saw
The weight of pain hiding in your eyes,
And I wished then,
There beneath that tree,
To take it all away.

Image Hosted by

But I had no words to heal you.
I had no words to heal myself.
And now that Fate has intervened,
Conspired to draw us together,

Despite the weight of pain
Behind both our eyes,
Despite the ghosts trailing all around us
Like a fog of haunting souls,
I’m still trying to find the words to heal you,

Image Hosted by

To take your pain and make it all my own
So your beautiful eyes can smile,
So you can be at peace.
And now that Fate has intervened,
Conspired to draw us together,
I can’t resist the lure of your eyes,

Image Hosted by

The temptation of your beauty,
The siren song of your voice
Whispering my name
In the dark comfort between my sheets.
I can’t resist you, baby
Because I’m falling still,

I’m falling into you. “

...And i fell for this story and for the 3 characters, Nell, Kyle and Colt.
A really beautiful story, that show us that besides a painful and crushing grieve, there is chance to heal and take a new start.

Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy #1)

Rating : 5 of 5 stars
Read : 4 to 7th February 2013
Format Read : Kindle Edition

This book is AMAZING!!!!
First of all, because it's a roller coaster of emotions and when you think that the story will go a certain way...BAM, it goes to a totally different one.

Then when you think you have someone figure it out, he does something out of your assumptions.
Because like in real life, things are grey and not black and white.

Third, you think you're reading just a great romance novel...wrong! It actually is so much more.

OK, after i put it down like that, lets get to the story, shall we?

" I have to live with my mistakes, but I don't have to regret them. I regret my actions but I can't regret the consequences. We all make our own paths in life. Everyone we meet, everything we do, it change us. It makes us who we are. And, if we're lucky, we're given the chance to make things right again."

Ellie is a con artist. After one encounter , when she almost didn't get away, she decides to start fresh. To get a proper job and leave the past behind. The best place to go, it's the only she called home, the only place she was Ellie Watt. And what are the odds to bump into someone she knows? Probably everyone moved out, like she did, after high school.
She never expects to run into Camden McQueen, not that she recognize him at start...he is miles away from the boy he used to be. From the boy that used to be her best friend and the one she betrayed. No longer the goth and the most bullied boy in school, Camden is gorgeous and a talented tattoo artist.
She is attracted to him and feels guilty for the things she did...but when she founds out how successful he is, she decided it'll be easy to con him, and get money to start her life. And what is one more scam?

" I'm not bad. The world is bad and I'm just trying to survive in it."

It's a line that sums up Ellie pretty well, she uses her scars to justify everything she does. If the world screws you, you screw the world.
Even so i love her and oh boy, do i love Camden...

But well, like i said, everything is not what it seems, trust and loyalties will be tested, love will be found, love will be lost, death, money...
You just have to put your seat belt on, and be ready for one hell of a ride!

Oh and of course it ends with a major CLIFFHANGER...

... that it'll make you crave for more :)

If you still haven't read any of Karina's Halle books, you should RUUUUUNNNNN and grab a copy! By now you probably have gathered how much I love her books, she truly is one of my favorite authors!

And well, this book was actually the first I read from her and the rest is history! ;)

Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding #1)

Rating : 4.5 stars
Read : December 26 to 28, 2012
Format read : Kindle Edition

This is Jack's and Lexi story.

Now, it all begins when Lexi receives a call from Jack .They haven't speak in 2 years but you feel that there is a lot of  history between them. Jack asks her to come to Atlanta  and talk to his current girlfriend about their story and how he can commit (in fact he just wants the girlfriend to get of his back about it...a twisted way to do it,right?).

And Lexi says yes...

One of the awesome things about it, is that the story alternates between the past and the present, so we get to know how they met and how it all evolved from there.
And how history tends to repeat itself over and over again.

Yeah, many times i just wanted to slap them both and put some sense into their thick skulls. Their timing was always wrong and i just kept thinking in the song "I can't live with or without you"....that one should really be their song.

They have this CRAZY and AMAZING chemistry and they're so alike that i can't help thinking that they’re meant to be.
But seeing the story of this 2 unfold, we realize they can bring the best and the absolute worst in each other, and only they have the power to hurt beyond repair.

I lost count the amount of times that I yelled at my kindle, that I got frustrated, teary, happy…yep, this book is just such an emotional roller coaster, and I do think the book should come with an warning :

If that wasn't enough, Ramsey gets in the picture (Jack’s girlfriend brother) and I can say that I fell for him!
By him invading her personal space (sounds bad but the scenes where hilarious), how he is funny and sincere, how he can surprise and get under her skin, and just how he looks at her. And yep, they too have some crazy chemistry going on.

I will shut up now, I’m containing myself not to spoil anyone. (And not saying for which one of the guys I'm rooting for)!

This book is one of my favorites!
I’m a sucker for all that angst and such flawed characters, that I want to see redeem themselves in the end.

Vain (The Seven Deadly #1)

Rating: 5 adoring Stars
Read : 10 to 12 February 2013
Format : Kindle edition

Vanity's a debilitating affliction. You're so absorbed in yourself it's impossible to love anyone other than oneself, leaving you weak without realization of it. (...) You'll discover that what once defined you has wilted into graying hair and wrinkled skin. Frantic, you'll glance around yourself, in hopes of finding those you swore adored you, but all you will find is empty picture frames.

Sophie Price is the epitome of vain. She is spoiled, filthy rich, the Queen bee of all the trust funds kids.

All the guys wanted her and all the girls wanted to be her.

I loved the way they wanted me.
It felt powerful.

She manipulated all those around her. There were no limits. What she wanted, Sophie get it.

She ruled because she is one of the beautiful people.
Oh yes, Sophie is a b*tch and she knows it. And at the beginning you think you have her already figure it out. But like in real life, people are not entirely bad or entirely good.

I was my own worst enemy. That was my secret weakness. Rejection.

Rejection of any kind, in fact. I hated more than anything.

Her parents lived their life like she didn't exist. Well, she was a pawn in the game. They only cared and demanded one thing of her.

"Keep appearances, Sophie Price, and I'll reward you handsomely,"

my father said to me starting at fifteen.

But after messing up so many times, Sophie was sentenced to spend 6 months in an orphanage. In Uganda.

Nothing could have prepared her for this journey. More than a path of self discovery, it was a path of self worth, selfless and unconditional love.

Nothing could have prepared her for Dingane aka Ian...

She never felt such an immediate attraction to a man.
Dingane is beautiful, inside and out. He is one of the most generous and selfless man she ever knew.

The thing was his opinion of her...

"Girl, you are the epitome of spoiled. I can smell it in your expensive perfume, in the quality of your ridiculous clothing,in the bracelet wrapped 'round that delicate wrist. You won't last out here. You'll stay blind to the environment that surrounds you. You'll live in your clean, perfect bubble and return to your posh life come six months. You I know your kind. I've seen it all before. You will never wake up. Not really."

And nothing could have prepared her for those adoring children that irrevocably changed her life...

"They choose to be happy even though the obviously easier choice would be to be frightened or sad and they have real reason to be those things as well. But they have have life and faith and hope and love and they choose those things. Their innocence is addicting, their hope is catching and I'm happy to be surrounded by them."

This was truly such a beautiful, endearing and emotional journey.
And of course an enchanting love story, that will leave you breathless for it's beauty.

Many scenes left me with my heart in my hands, so many scenes i were afraid for them...i smiled and i cried. And like Sophie nothing could have prepared for those adoring children.

This story is just so layered and just makes you feel. Feel love, friendship, dedication, determination, goodness, injustice, selfless but above all HOPE.

Stacking The Shelves #1

Stacking The Shelves was originally created by Tynga's reviews. The idea is for everyone to show the books they are adding to their shelves (physical copies or virtual).

Finally my book set for Hunger Games arrived!! I read it almost a year ago in ebook, and well I like to also have in paperback some of my favorites.
The other one is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, I'm anxious to start this one, I only read amazing reviews of it.

From Netgalley : (ebooks)

Have you read any of this books? What you thought of them?
And what's new on your shelve?

Happy readings :)

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)

Rating : 5 stars
Read : June 20 to 23, 2013
Format Read: Kindle Edition

If your only choice of survival, was to become one of the creatures you despise what would you do?

Image Hosted by

In this dark future, humans are ruled by vampires.

They are scarce cities, and which one is ruled by a master vampire, a Prince.

The humans are registered and branded like "cattle". They must obey and they must give blood donations. All in exchange of protection and food.

Protection from what exactly?

From the rabids, a sort of zombiefied and mindless creatures, that are a threat for humans and vampires.

Allie, our heroine,is Unregistered and she lives with her "crew" in The Fringe, the outermost circle of the city.

There were several good things about being Unregistered. You didn't exist. You were off their records, a ghost in the system."

She hates the vampires, for treating all the humans like animals. For banishing any kind of knowledge and for considered humans sacks of blood.

She and her companions scavenge the city, trying to find any food or anything to trade for food, in order to survive.

Until one day she is attacked and it's faced with only 2 choices, to die or to become one of the monsters, a vampire.

She chooses to live and she now have to learn, from Kanin, all the rules for being an immortal.

The lessons are cut short when she have to flee the city and run for her life. With nowhere to go, she finds herself walking around until she comes a cross a band of humans, that are looking for Eden, a place secured and free from vampires.

Tagging along with them will test her new instincts and her power of will. What will happen if she is discovered?

Image Hosted by

What do you get, when you mix dystopia with vampires?
A truly AMAZING and UNIQUE story!!!
From the first pages, you'll get sucked up in this dark and gritty new world.

I loved Allie!

She is just such a strong and kick ass heroine!

It's fascinating to go through this journey with her, from human, to vampire, to monster, to wanderer... she is loyal, determined and brave. Oh and she doesn't take crap from anyone!

And Zeke?

He won me over!
At first he seemed to good to be true...

" So, what do you think I am?"

Naive, I thought at once. Naive, brave, selfless, incredible - and much too kind to survive this world. It'll break you in the end, if you keep going like this. Good things never last.

But slowly, the more we got to know him, the more I loved him.
I confess I was disappointed for his reaction when he learned the truth. But he did redeem himself several times.

And Kanin?

Our favorite mentor (I kept thinking of him like, Sensei) and one of the most interesting and captivating characters. I truly hope we'll get much more of him in the 2nd book.

Overall, I was a bit caught by surprise of how much i LOVED this one.

Incredibly rich story, with a dark and gritty set, with strong and complex characters.

Oh and did I tell you, that Allie fight with a katana?

This was the first book I read from Kawaga but I guarante it won't be my last!!
